Who we are

The people behind Pulse

Three people who train a lot, building the thing we wanted to exist.

Why we built Pulse

Training with the right people changes everything. Pulse exists so you can find your people: real sessions in real places, with people whose pace, schedule and vibe actually match yours.

That is the whole of it. Community is the product, and safety is part of the design, from the visibility controls on your profile to who gets to message you.

  • John climbing the ridge toward Lone Peak summit during the RUT.

    John Park

John is a cyclist and runner in San Francisco, and the reason a few of his friends now own trail shoes. His biggest athletic accomplishment is the 2025 RUT trifecta in Big Sky: the VK, the 28K and the 50K, three trips up Lone Peak, 52 miles and 21,700 feet of climbing. He started Pulse because finding training partners should be easier than the training.

  • Fem grinning on the rocky ridgeline above Big Sky, poles in hand.

    Fem Woodruff

Fem is a cyclist and runner in New York who will sign up for almost anything. She studied chemical engineering at Cornell, ran the 2026 Boston Marathon, and finished the Santa Cruz 70.3 without ever really learning to swim, which she does not recommend and would do again. She is with Pulse because a plan with friends should take one tap, and a run with someone new should not take a leap of faith.

  • Zach running a scree traverse with Lone Peak behind him.

    Zachary Wakefield

Zach runs long in Boston and keeps going back to the mountains: six ultramarathons so far, including two RUT 50K finishes and the Speedgoat 50K. When he is not running, he is a bioinformatics PhD at Boston University, and that schedule is most of why he is here: a free evening rarely lands where anyone else’s does, and the hard part was never the training but finding someone at his pace who happened to be free the same night.
